About Me

Middle aged man with a wider waist line, I started running after an achilles rupture. I stayed for the enjoyment. I've run events on all terrains at all distances right up to 100k.

I became a run leader at a local affiliated club after realising there were no leads supporting back-of-the-packers like myself. I moved in to leading off-road runs for the club, added guide running to my repertoire and then eventually decided to move in to coaching with the same remit.

I am overtly pro the environment, the LGBTQ+ community and wider humanitarian causes and will harbour no space for bigots in my personal or my professional life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced runner, I tailor the coaching to your individual needs and goals.

I coach runners for any and all distances.

I coach on all terrains, including road, trail, mixed surfaces, and off-road environments.

At Coach Potato, we specialise in coaching those who don't fit the standard image. As a larger and slower runner myself, I've been through the mill on the perceptions of what makes a runner.

Odds on if you're looking to podium at big races then I'm not the coach for you. However, I have enough contacts to make recommendations for a coach who fits.

Additionally if we do a block together and you decide that we don't fit, that's cool. I will support you in moving forwards to alternative coaches or training methods.

I'm not looking to make money. My goal is to cover costs, buy myself a coffee and make some charitable donations. I got into coaching because there was a lack of support for slower runners like myself, not for fame and fortune.

Be aware that any charity donations I make will be to one or any combination of the following charity types:

  • LGBTQIA+

  • Environmental

  • Humanitarian

I cap my books at 6. I'm not in this to make money and I want to make sure my athletes get the attention they deserve.

Note that I don't count my one-offs in this cap limit.
